Born and raised in Los Angeles Luis Ayala’s impressive DJ
career started in the late 80’s. By the 9th grade Luis had
started producing his own backyard flyer parties and would
soon make his transition into the world of nightclubs. His first
official DJ gig was hosting a KROQ Night with the world
famous Richard Blade. In high school his DJ friends and
influences included Ralph M from the internationally known
Hip-Hop group Funkdoobiest and DJ Uneek, Bone Thugs and
Harmony producer. The Marine Corps called his name but that
didn’t stop him from taking his records with him. Soon he was
DJ’ing at the on base nightclubs and would end up in Japan
sharing his music internationally.
The itch continued. After a successful career as a Marine, his
next tour led him to be a field marketing manager for Miller
Genuine Draft. He oversaw their mobile marketing programs
which included a customized 17 foot RV with a custom built DJ
booth inside. He would travel up and down the coast of
California, executing promotions and DJ’ing at branded events. While working with Miller he
supported two long time friends with a burgeoning dance label. In 1995 the label grew beyond its
expectations and the DJ who started as a gopher was now the promotions director. V-Wax Music
offered Luis the chance to work with global DJ’s Richard Humpty Vission, Bad Boy Bill, Mark Lewis,
Steve Loria, DJ Dan and many others. Working with such talent it was natural for Luis to create
events that not only supported the artists but gave him the credibility he deserved. In addition he
produced the “BAKA BOYZ CALI KINGS MIX TAPE” one the first fully licensed hip hop mix tapes to be
The changing face of music took him away from the label world and into the nightclub promotion
world. As the vice president of Hitmen Entertainment Luis and his partner produced managed,
promoted and DJ’ed Los Angeles’ premiere Latin venues. Luis held residencies’ at Century Club,
Conga Room. Rhumba Room and many others. With a flair for a wide range of musical elements, Luis
became a highly sought out DJ for all types of events from Spring Break in Mexico to Microsoft
Recently he served as the marketing director for Machete Music/Universal Music and was responsible
for supporting the careers of many of Urban Latin music heavy hitters like Don Omar and Daddy
In his more than fifteen years of experience, Luis’ skills as a DJ have taken him to Maui and Mexico,
as well numerous cities in the US. He was recently the featured DJ at the ALMA Awards after party
with Eva Longoria. Luis has expanded his repertoire from his hip hop roots to a hybrid of Latin,
World Music, Hip Hop, mash-ups, 80’s, Dance, Pop and everything in between. “ I come from the old
school where DJ’s started at 9 and finished at 2pm. I learned how to appreciate and mix all types of
music which now makes up the mosaic of music I represent in my sets” His greatest pleasure is
surprising dance-floors with unique and ear catching mixes that sneak up on you.
