After graduating from VirginiaCommonwealthUniversity in the year 2000, Maurisa Westbury landed her dream job with International Business Machines (IBM).She started as a Systems Integration Specialist. The position may have been a dream job but it was short-lived.Just one year later she was laid off in the technology downturn also known as the “Dot Com Bust”. While many people would be discouraged after being laid off from their dream job, Maurisa saw her layoff from IBM as an opportunity, rather than a setback.It was a chance to reevaluate and reassess her skills and interests.
This self-inventory led her to realize that her passion was entrepreneurship and empowering others and her background in technology and volunteering for non-profit organizations was perfect for this endeavor.After lending her leadership skills to such organizations as BDPA and founding Women in the Loop, a women’s empowerment conference raising awareness for the disease Lupus, OnlineTraining2Go was born, a subsidiary of Maurisa’s parent venture, Ingenuity Partners Inc.
Maurisa parlayed her own motto, Reinvent Yourself, Get Noticed, and Move to the Next Level, into the mission and motto of OnlineTraining2Go.The company offers training, webinars, tele-seminars, coaching and conferences all virtually for the professional who wants to get ahead in their personal and professional life.
She now works as Chief Training Strategist for OnlineTraining2Go, while still saving time for her volunteer work, family and friends in her off hours.This powerhouse entrepreneur is living her dream by helping others to succeed and get ahead, while serving as the perfect example that a setback is really an opportunity in disguise.
